Students worked as a team to complete a puzzle of the characteristics they would like to see in their classmates such as "kind" and "helpful". The pieces came together to make our classroom number, room 23!
Students made self-portraits which also described three of their interests.
Throughout the week students filled a time capsule with items. One of the items pictured above was a measurement paper. Students measured their height and will compare it with their end of the year height. Other time capsule items included a hand tracing, a handwriting sample, a math timed test, and a letter. We will open our time capsules on the final week of fourth grade.
Students spent time reading each day of our first week of school. Fourth grade students are encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes at home each night.
Next week we will begin our classroom rotations and I will be focusing specifically on math. Check back throughout the year to see what is happening on our fourth grade math journey!
